Map Re-Reroll (1.6)
This is the updated RimWorld 1.6 version of Map Reroll. The original 1.4 and 1.5 content is still included for legacy players. Map Reroll lets you quickly randomize your starting map and steam geyser locations. Your starting scenario, colonists, items, and settlement setup stay the same. The mod includes map previews, so instead of blindly rolling random maps, you can browse preview pages and choose the map you want.Map Reroll 2.8.7 - Safer Map Generation Compatibility
This update focuses on compatibility with mods that add custom map generation, scripted locations, quest maps, and special world objects.- Added a central map-generation recipe hook.
- Map and geyser rerolls are now limited to normal player-home settlements and the existing Setup Camp integration.
- Quest sites, pocket maps, scripted maps, and unknown custom map parents are blocked before any destructive operation begins.
- Maps created with custom one-time GenSteps or generation callbacks are detected and protected.
- Removed aggressive cleanup code that manually cleared MapComponents, region data, and map grids.
- The "Keep this map" choice is now enforced by both the interface and reroll execution code.
- Added an opt-in API for mods whose custom map parents have verified reroll support.
- Retains the black-preview fix, Map Preview-optional support, and Geological Landforms compatibility from 2.8.6.
Features
- Reroll the current starting map from an in-game preview grid.
- Reroll steam geyser locations.
- Keep your scenario, colonists, and starting items intact.
- Optional resource cost paid from unmined map resources.
- RimWorld 1.6 compatibility fixes.
- Optional integration with Map Preview for more accurate 1.6 previews.
Requirements
- Harmony is required and must load first.
- HugsLib is required.
- Load HugsLib before Map Reroll.
- Map Preview is optional, but recommended for the best preview accuracy on RimWorld 1.6.
- If using Map Preview, load it before Map Reroll.

Resource Cost
Rerolling has a small price: unmined resources from the map. This cost is optional and can be disabled in:
Options > Mod Settings
Warning
Use your best judgment when rerolling and save your game first. Map generation is one of RimWorld's more sensitive systems. This mod has been updated and tested around vanilla-style generation, but mods that add or change map generation may behave unexpectedly. Compatibility update: Map Reroll now uses the current map size and generator for previews, retries with its fallback preview generator when Map Preview rejects a request or returns a blank result, and lets Geological Landforms participate in fallback preview generation. If you use Geological Landforms, load it after Map Reroll.Legacy Versions
