Overview

RimMods is a fanmade project that helps RimWorld players discover mods, authors and collection, and in the future to create them. We take a minimal-data approach: we only collect what we need to operate the site, and we never sell your data.

Data we collect

Anonymous usage data

Privacy-respecting analytics are not switched on yet. When we do enable them, they will collect no personally identifiable information, IP addresses will be anonymised before storage, and they will only run for visitors who opt in to the "Analytics" category in the cookie banner below.

Steam authentication

When you sign in with Steam, we receive your public Steam profile information: your SteamID64, display name, and profile avatar URL. We store this to associate packs you create with your account. We do not receive your Steam password, email address, or any private Steam data.

Pack data

Local storage

Your current mod session, your RimWorld version preference and a few dismissed-hint flags are also stored locally, but only once you've opted in to the "Preferences" category below. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly save a pack when it's available in the future.

Cookies

When you first visit, a cookie banner asks you to choose what we're allowed to store. Your choice is itself remembered in a rim-consent cookie. We use three categories:

  • Necessary — the rimauth session cookie that keeps you signed in after authenticating with Steam. Always on; the site can't function without it.
  • Preferences — no cookies are set today. Opting into this category enables the local storage items described above (your RimWorld version filter and a few dismissed-hint flags); it's kept as its own category for anything we add here later.
  • Analytics — Google Tag Manager. To measure genuine first-visit traffic, one initial page view may load before you've made a choice; if you decline this category, no further analytics hits are sent on any later visit. This option is appreciated but not required.

No third-party advertising cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, or .

Third parties

Mod thumbnails are served from Steam's CDN and CloudFront. When your browser loads an image, Steam and CloudFront see your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request. If the Analytics cookie category is active (see above), Google Tag Manager also runs in your browser and Google receives standard request data (IP address, page URL, browser information). We do not share any other data with third parties.

RimMods is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ludeon Studios or Valve Corporation.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
