Minecraft: The Nether!
Risk it all for gold and uranium in a Rimworld-style re-imagining of a familiar, blocky dimension!
Risk it all for gold and uranium in a Rimworld-style re-imagining of a familiar, blocky dimension!
This mod adds a new Odyssey-based landmark - unlit, inactive Nether portals. If you can get them lit, you can plunge into the depths of a brand new Metal hell-style pocket map teeming with uranium, gold, and a plethora of new, unique animals.
Additionally, there is a new hidden faction present - Piglins. Piglin Warbands periodically spawn in the Nether, hostile to your Nether expeditions. They feature a new heat-resistant xenotype, hot-weather equipment, and a new healing item.
In addition to what is pictured in the screenshots and description previews, there is:
- A new xenotype using only vanilla genes
- A new Odyssey-based landmark modifier on world tiles, an inactive Nether portal
- A new helmet and a new healing item, both exclusive to the Piglin warband
- Three new animals
- A new faction
- A new pocket dimension
- Two new natural terrain types, Netherrack and Soulsand
- Two new ore types, netherrack gold ore and glowstone, that yield gold and uranium, respectively
No custom resources or genes will be added - I wanted to keep the mod's profile low and as vanilla-friendly as possible without a bunch of new resources.
The Nether is hot - very hot. In the vanilla game, no xenotype can survive within it's reaches without special equipment. I created this to learn more about the pocket map system, and it's something that's intended to slot in to my own heavily modded game. A lot of solutions to surviving in the Nether might be found in other mods. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't helpful equipment present for braving the heat.
If you're having trouble activating the portal, think back to what you'd do in Minecraft! Activating the portal requires you to light it's obsidian on fire. Take some fire to the inactive frame and see what happens - molotovs usually do the trick.
This is my first time making animals, pocket maps, biomes, and writing C#. This mod is going to be very messy. Let me know if you have any errors. I recommend being prepared to block off the Nether side of the portal when you open it; most animals are comfortable with the climate, but the Piglins love running for the door.
As with all of my mods, fork, edit, update, and expand upon this all you want. Utilize the assets in your own mod!
