◆ Modern Notifications ◆
RimWorld scatters everything that wants your attention across three different corners in three different styles. The pop-up messages float as plain text at the top-left, the alerts stack on the right, the clock and controls cluster at the bottom-right, and the letters pile up beside them. Modern Notifications pulls all of it into one clean, dark, icon-driven card system, so a single glance tells you what is happening, how bad it is, and where. Fully standalone, with Harmony as the only requirement, and safe to add or remove at any time.✦ One Place For Everything
- Docked notifications: the top-left text pop-ups become tidy cards that stack in the bottom-right, right above your alerts and letters, so everything lives in one column. Prefer them at the top-left? A single toggle floats them back into a draggable strip you can place anywhere.
- Type-coloured cards: every message carries a coloured left edge, red for threats, amber for setbacks, teal for tasks, green for good news, so you read the tone before you read the text.
- Faithful behaviour: click to jump, right-click to dismiss, hover to highlight on the map, all exactly as the base game does it.
✦ Alerts With a Live Timer
- Cards that fit: alerts size themselves to the full label, so no more clipped, wrapped warnings.
- A draining urgency bar: the left edge of each alert starts full and bright, then shrinks and fades the longer you leave it unaddressed. A fresh problem looks nothing like one you have been ignoring for a season.
- Right-click to snooze: silence an alert for a while. It returns on its own, or sooner if its situation changes.
- Critical means critical: the worst alerts gain a red background and a warning badge so they cannot be missed.
✦ A Rebuilt Bottom-Right
- Styled speed controls: five crisp icon buttons for pause through ultrafast, with ultrafast unlocked from the start and no developer mode required. The active speed glows, and every keyboard shortcut still works.
- A widget drawer: the vanilla display toggles tuck into a clean drop-down grid, so the corner stays calm until you want them.
- One information panel: weather, temperature, the date and the season share a single card, each with its own icon. Temperature is colour-graded from freezing blue to scorching red at a glance.
✦ Weather and Effects, Read at a Glance
- Live weather icons: clear skies, rain, thunder, snow, fog, wind, sandstorm and more, each drawn to match.
- Effects in the weather area: a toxic fallout, a solar flare, an eclipse or a cold snap shows up right beside the weather with its own icon, not as a stray floating box.
- Danger you can see: hazardous conditions glow red or amber and wear a warning badge, so you know the difference between a pretty aurora and a deadly pall.
✦ Letters That Show What Happened
- Event icons: a letter from a raid shows crossed swords, a manhunter pack shows a fang, disease shows a virus, a trader shows coins, a crash shows a drop pod, a quest shows a scroll. You know what it is before you open it.
- Plain letters keep an envelope: story and manual letters with no incident behind them stay clean and simple.
- Distinct on purpose: letter cards wear their accent on the right edge, so they never blur together with messages and alerts.
✦ Plays Nicely With Your Mods
There are no hard dependencies here beyond Harmony. The icon matching was tuned against a deep scan of large content mods, so their weather, conditions and event letters are recognized automatically and given a fitting icon and the right danger colour. Anything unfamiliar still falls back to a clean neutral icon or the plain envelope, never blank.- Alpha Biomes: acid rain and moldy air show the toxic mark, volcanic ash falls as ashfall, forsaken nights show a moon, petal storms a bloom, and ambient radiation a radiation symbol.
- The Ashlands: ashfall and ash storms use the ashfall icon, sulphuric rain the toxic mark, volcanic wind and eruptions the volcano, and the wandering beasts a paw.
- Vanilla Events Expanded: dust storms become sandstorms, hail and ice ages snow, fertile rains and crop sprouts a bloom, geomagnetic storms the interference mark, tidal flooding rain, meteorite showers a comet, and earthquakes the seismograph.
- Vanilla Psycasts Expanded: eternal nights, umbral veils and void storms show a moon, psychic flashstorms a bolt, time quakes the seismograph, and solar rifts the solar flare.
- ReGrowth: blizzards and foggy snow read as snow, drizzle and monsoons as rain, sandstorms and foggy sandstorms as sandstorms, and windy weather as wind.
- Nature's Pretty Sweet: dust storms become sandstorms, lava smoke the volcano, thick fog the fog mark, superblooms a bloom, and its diseases the virus.
- Nuclear war mods: nuclear heat and winter show the radiation symbol, while missile and satellite strikes show the crossed swords.
- Spaceports: kessler syndrome shows a comet, shuttle arrivals and mystery cargo the trade and visitor icons, and derelicts a drop pod.
- Custom races such as Kiiro and Milira: their join and refugee events show the newcomer icon, festivals and trades the coins, raids the swords, and fallen angels a visitor.
- Medieval creatures and DankPyon events: roaming beasts and golems show a paw or drop pod, eclipses the eclipse, and mineshaft infestations the insect.
- Vanilla Factions and Mechanoids Expanded: pillage and outpost raids show the swords, and junk chunk drops a drop pod.
✦ Make It Yours
- Dock messages to the bottom-right, or float them top-left and drag them anywhere.
- Scale the notification cards and the whole bottom-right panel independently. Text scales with the panel.
- Set panel opacity over the map.
- Tune alert opacity, the countdown fade time and the snooze duration.
