◆ Modern Xenotype Tab ◆

The vanilla Genes tab shows you a list and nothing more. Modern Xenotype Tab replaces it with a full genetics workbench in the Modern suite style: a dark, flat, icon-led tab with four modes, a living paperdoll that lights up the body part a gene affects, a searchable database of every gene from every loaded mod, and planning tools that turn "I want this xenotype" into a concrete shopping list. Requires Biotech, with Harmony as the only other dependency, and one click swaps you back to the vanilla tab at any time.

✦ Overview Mode

  • Living paperdoll: hover any gene and the affected body part glows on the portrait. Hair, eyes, ears, jaw, skin, and even modded horns and antennae light up as their exact artwork.
  • Biostat grid: complexity, metabolism, archites and gene counts, each with a fill bar and a rich tooltip.
  • The Desired block: tracks how close this pawn is to your pinned and planned genes, with a gold progress bar that turns green when the set is complete and a per gene checklist in the tooltip.
  • Gene rail: xenogenes and endogenes as compact cards with rarity bars and override states, plus a pinned tracker strip at the top so your watched genes are always in reach.

✦ The Xenotype Planner

  • A draft per pawn: stage gene additions and removals onto a plan without ever touching the pawn. Plans are stored in your save.
  • Load a xenotype: pick any xenotype, including your saved custom xenotypes, and the planner stages every gene the pawn is missing. A reset button clears the whole draft in one click.
  • Live compare strip: current versus planned biostats side by side, with a warning when the planned metabolism leaves the viable range.
  • Conflict warnings: staged genes that clash or miss a prerequisite get a marker explaining exactly why.
  • Acquisition plan: every staged gene is ranked by effort. Already in genepack storage, carried by someone on your map, offered as a quest reward, or waiting at the nearest faction settlement whose xenotypes carry it.

✦ Inheritance Preview

  • Pick a partner: choose any colonist, prisoner or slave and preview the genes a child of the pair would inherit.
  • Real odds: results come from many simulated rolls of the actual vanilla inheritance code, split into guaranteed genes and possible genes with probability bars.
  • Honest fine print: fertility, same gender pairings and archite rules are all called out.

✦ The Gene Database

  • Everything searchable: every gene from every loaded mod in one grid, with markers on genes your pawn already carries.
  • Pin and track: pin a gene and its tooltip becomes a treasure map. ✔ a genepack in storage already has it, ◉ a carrier is on your map, ★ an active quest pays it out, ➤ the nearest settlement whose xenotypes carry it, with tile distance.
  • Pins persist: your shopping list is stored in the save and survives between sessions.

✦ Plays Nicely With Other Mods

  • Modded genes just work: stats, abilities, resources and cosmetic render nodes are detected automatically. No patches needed.
  • Xenotype Summary: a header button opens its summary window, and a chevron on the tab edge pops out an embedded summary side panel.
  • Random's Gene Assistant: its ownership colours appear as status dots on every gene icon.
  • Vanilla Races Expanded, Android: android pawns speak that mod's language. Gene sections become Hardware components and Subroutines, the biostats show power efficiency and power drain, and the inheritance mode steps aside because androids are built, not born.
  • Android Tiers Continued: android type names and icons flow through automatically.

✦ Requirements

  • Biotech, the DLC this tab is about.
  • Harmony (brrainz.harmony), the only mod dependency.

✦ The Modern Family

Shares its flat, dark, icon-led look with Modern Bio Tab, Modern Colonist Bar, Modern Notifications, Modern Quest Menu, Modern Social Tab and the rest of the Modern UI suite, for one consistent interface across your whole colony.
Built for RimWorld 1.6. Safe to add to an existing save. Removing it only forgets your pinned genes and plans. Know your genome, then go raid for a better one.
